THE SINKING SHIP

We live in a completely dysfunctional system, in which education is looking for textbooks, culture is on the margins of society, and let’s not talk about security. Authoritative persons are dwindling day by day, they have almost disappeared and the public discourse is left to semi-educated or uneducated vagabonds/businessmen who have completely taken over our entire existence, keeping all free and prosperous thought in shackles, to account of their personal and party interests and businesses, deliberately creating an unprecedented institutional mess!

Undoubtedly, the number of citizens who nostalgically remember the former system of the former federation is increasing. And the reason is more than obvious?! The number of Yugonostalgics in Macedonia is increasing, due to the current chaotic time that dominates us… From a state and corroded institutions that clumsily and strangely lead us to what democracy and the rule of law mean, waiting desperately to give us some hope and a bright future, on the other hand, day by day, with each new scandal, we sink into a dark and domineering reality that we undoubtedly deserve.

Yugoslav rule, although the West likes to portray it as an authoritarian regime, and the East as an extension of the capitalist West, for many witnesses who lived and survived the Yugoslav half-century, generally testifies to a prosperous time and a time of prosperity.

The small number of authorities in Macedonia recalls a system that offered protection, with enviable education, superior culture and functional institutions, a system that desired and nurtured reduced public political debate, speech or criticism, things that are accused of flaws in ideas and desire for perfect arrangement.

But today we have the opposite… We live in a completely dysfunctional system, in which education is looking for textbooks, culture is on the margins of society, and let’s not talk about security. But this is why democracy allows us all to criticize and publicly debate everything that is not working in this country. We have the right to raise our voices against injustice and rebel for a better tomorrow! But there seems to be none of the latter…

Bechtel and Enka, oncology, changes in the criminal code and all the subsequent metastases that will follow these days, coupled with the already experienced high crime rate and institutional abuses, causing a general collapse of the state, have combined to created a perfect storm of despair and frustration in the people. As a result, the citizens, the blood stream of the nation, have become apathetic and are increasingly leaving the country in search of refuge under a new system, fleeing and hiding from the existing one that treats and treats it thoroughly. criminal and amateur homeland.

Look at Macedonia today… A sad picture of a disappearing country – a sinking ship! But all this has its own history and “godfathers”, because the collapse of a nation’s system is not a coincidence, but something that develops gradually. And we are all witnessing a maximally harmful process that undermines the foundations of society until it eventually collapses due to corruption, mismanagement and apathy. The signs of this dysfunction are obvious, a legal system subject to manipulation by the powerful, a legislature that prioritizes the interests of a privileged few over the public and common good, and an overburdened bureaucracy riddled with inefficiency and corruption.

Politicians and the privileged have become adept at twisting regulations to suit their own purposes, rendering the legal system completely ineffective. Laws are considered mere recommendations, and those charged with enforcing them often ignore them, making punishment a mental abstraction. One of the most disturbing aspects of this national crisis lies in the flagrant disregard for the law and the circumvention of the law. But isn’t it said – the fish stinks from the head!

In this environment, it is no wonder that crime rates have skyrocketed. Gangs and crime thrive in this vacuum, exploiting the vulnerability of a system that has completely failed. High crime rates further erode trust in the state and increase the exodus of citizens who rightly seek safety elsewhere. And we will forget the changes in the criminal code and developments in Oncology at the end of this summer, because we did the same with the corridors we paid for. The money is given and apart from the fact that the sign is no longer on the ground, everything else is the same…

Macedonian history is perhaps a cautionary tale for the world. It is a stark warning that, in the face of such challenges, the resilience of a nation’s people can only last so long before they seek a better future elsewhere. And it happens to us… Massively!
