THE RIGHT TO VOTE THE ESSENCE OF DEMOCRACY AND POLITICAL REPRESENTATION

The greater the civic participation, the more consolidated and qualitative democratic space, and with it the political legitimacy of the government. Elections represent the most sublime act of democracy. The right to vote remains sacred and an essential instrument of democracy. Go out and vote on July 15 for the subject you think should represent you in the next four years. With this, you become part of the democratic processes and European values.

These early parliamentary elections are held in an extraordinary pandemic situation. The election campaign was also determined by the presence of the virus, while the pre-election activities of political entities were managed based on this new reality, i.e. protocols that did not allow large gatherings. In general, the parties have respected the measures proclaimed by the health institutions, while violations have been noticed.
Within this twenty-day period, political parties have unveiled their electoral platforms, being close to the citizens, but also through online media and social networks. In general, the campaign has been calm and within the framework of democratic normalcy. Twenty days have been enough for political parties to convey the political message to the target electorate. Although in a limited situation, political entities have managed to maximally manage the time and space of presentation and transmission of the political message, to explain political ideas, but also to compete with arguments on their political visions.

Democracy remains a platform for ideas, a space for competition, rivalry and the unfolding of political visions. Civic activism, democratic participation give the necessary quality to politics, always understood in the function of humane and principled governance. The greater the civic participation, the more consolidated and better the democratic space and with it the political legitimacy of the government. Elections represent the most sublime act of democracy. The right to vote remains sacred and an essential instrument of democracy. July 15 should mark the undisputed democratic moment in the circumstances determined by the pandemic.
Election Day is the moment when the citizen decides on his representation, for the next government, based on electoral offers. This right remains the essence of democracy and political representation. The indisputable will that prepare the future government remains. Northern Macedonia is already facing the moment in voting circumstances that will be dictated by the protocols of an electoral process in times of pandemic. Political parties said their word during the campaign, now is the time for citizens to have their say in a completely free and democratic way.

The higher the turnout, the more democratic competition makes sense. Out of the ordinary clichés, this participation determines the future of the citizens, because the future path of the state is crystallized from the voting. North Macedonia faces great challenges on the path to European integration. Only a participatory and consolidated democracy can strengthen this unstoppable European orientation. Go out and vote for the subject you think should represent you in the next four years. With this, you become part of the democratic processes and policies that imply European values.
