COMMON OXIMORON

It is this period when everything and nothing makes logical sense. When everyone is and no one is present. When we all see each other and we can’t meet anyone. It is the period when on the road you can barely find a path among the crowd that rolls in vain to reach the predetermined destination. On the way, the smell of the Armani falco perfume catches your breath, in competition with the original Boss, and a little further down, mixing with the perfume of the pilgrimage. Of course, the dominance is held by the smell of the corn on the spit and the sweat of the drummers waiting for the next “joy”.

This time of the year has always amazed me for the halakama and the versatile meat it brings with it. Almost every city, whether coastal flooded with tourists or expats flooded with the return of Kurbetchari, experiences a fantastic transformation that comes almost like a hurricane overnight, and almost also goes away, within the day. Businessmen refer to this as “the season”, some as “the time of the shacks”, others as the time of tourists and some simply as the nightmare of an overload beyond the real capacities that our coastal or expatriate cities actually offer in terms of service, infrastructure or even hospitality itself.

At this time of the year, everyone has value, even those that have no value. We sell rock, rap, dance, electronica, couplets and even opera in a package with folk. They also sell dimis, tesha with floors, beach clothes, exotic underwear and bridal underwear. Philosophical books, religious books, donkey books are for sale. Ferari followed by Jugo, Lamburxhini from Pezho, produced in the last century, appear on the streets. The smoke they emit together has no way to be better combined with the smoke of shishas that are inhaled so sweetly by young boys and girls, lying on the modern chairs of reincarnated harems.

This period comes with very hot days, from those when you feel every drop of sweat rolling down your back down to your waist. There are days when the earth and the sky come together, with hail and thunder that seem like they came out of the stories of the apocalypse. This period also comes with many viruses, some transmitted from person to person, and some caused by food poisoning. A lot of strange relationships and marriages happen, as well as unexpected breakups. Now there are crises for joys and sorrows, now they are bitter and reconciled with oxymorons.

This time of year is everything and nothing, it’s our clearest reality and our deepest illusion.

That was all I could think of when a reporter asked me to comment on the latest developments on the political scene.
